En 2017, Statistiques Canada a estim\u00e9 que la pr\u00e9valence de la maladie \u00e9tait de 7,3\u00a0% (2,3\u00a0millions de Canadiens de plus de 12\u00a0ans). Les patients atteints de diab\u00e8te pr\u00e9sentent 25\u00a0fois plus de risques de devenir aveugles en comparaison au reste de la population. Le diab\u00e8te peut provoquer diverses complications centrales et p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques au niveau de la r\u00e9tine. Ces complications comprennent\u00a0:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c873987 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c873987\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">R&eacute;tinopathie diab&eacute;tique non prolif&eacute;rante<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f30116a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f30116a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Accumulation de sang, produits de d\u00e9gradation du sang ou modification de la morphologie originale des vaisseaux sanguins r\u00e9tiniens. G\u00e9n\u00e9ralement, il s\u2019agit du premier signe de la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une pathologie r\u00e9tinienne li\u00e9e au diab\u00e8te. La r\u00e9tinopathie peut \u00eatre mod\u00e9r\u00e9e, s\u00e9v\u00e8re ou tr\u00e8s s\u00e9v\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bf3a6e8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bf3a6e8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">R&eacute;tinopathie diab&eacute;tique prolif&eacute;rante<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-316eabc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"316eabc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une complication tardive du diab\u00e8te. Son diagnostic est \u00e9tabli par la d\u00e9tection de la croissance de nouveaux vaisseaux sanguins \u00e0 la surface de la r\u00e9tine. Cette croissance est caus\u00e9e par la r\u00e9tine qui essaye d\u2019alimenter en sang (et en \u00e9nergie) les zones de la r\u00e9tine dont la circulation n\u2019est pas viable en raison de la destruction diab\u00e9tique du lit vasculaire. Cette complication peut pr\u00e9senter un risque faible ou \u00e9lev\u00e9. Cela d\u00e9pend de la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une h\u00e9morragie active dans l\u2019\u0153il caus\u00e9e par les nouveaux vaisseaux sanguins. Cette complication est en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral prise en charge par th\u00e9rapie au laser (photocoagulation panr\u00e9tinienne)<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1c465f5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1c465f5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">D&eacute;collement de la r&eacute;tine<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-115a8c4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"115a8c4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Il s\u2019agit de la phase la plus avanc\u00e9e de la r\u00e9tinopathie diab\u00e9tique durant laquelle les nouveaux vaisseaux sanguins et tissus fibreux provoquent le repli de la r\u00e9tine et se collent \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re de l\u2019\u0153il. Cette complication n\u00e9cessite g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une reconstruction chirurgicale. Elle est fr\u00e9quemment associ\u00e9e \u00e0 de mauvais r\u00e9sultats en termes de vision.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-adc481e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"adc481e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">&OElig;d&egrave;me maculaire diab&eacute;tique<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-27902da elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"27902da\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Cette complication est due \u00e0 la fuite de liquide dans la r\u00e9gion centrale de la r\u00e9tine (macula). Elle provoque la diminution de l\u2019acuit\u00e9 visuelle ou rend la vision floue. Elle se traite \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019injections \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il\/d\u2019une th\u00e9rapie au laser. Le traitement st\u00e9ro\u00efdien est r\u00e9serv\u00e9 aux cas ne r\u00e9pondant pas aux traitements de premi\u00e8re intention.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
