Elle peut se d\u00e9clarer chez les personnes de 55\u00a0ans et plus. Le terme anatomique \u00ab\u00a0macula\u00a0\u00bb est utilis\u00e9 pour d\u00e9signer le centre de la r\u00e9tine. Il s\u2019agit de la partie de la r\u00e9tine responsable de la vision centrale. La DMLA est la premi\u00e8re cause de c\u00e9cit\u00e9 dans les pays d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>La DMLA peut \u00eatre s\u00e8che ou humide. Dans les cas de DMLA s\u00e8che, la r\u00e9tine ne se rempli ni de sang, ni de liquide. Lorsque du sang ou un liquide est pr\u00e9sent dans le tissu r\u00e9tinien, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rescence humide. Elle est caus\u00e9e par de nouveaux vaisseaux sanguins qui p\u00e9n\u00e8trent dans la r\u00e9tine. Ils sont issus des tissus situ\u00e9s derri\u00e8re celle-ci. Ces vaisseaux sont nouveaux et donc fragiles. Ils provoquent des fuites qui entrainent l\u2019enflure du tissu r\u00e9tinien.<\/p>\n<p>Ces 50\u00a0derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que seule une intervention th\u00e9rapeutique permettait d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la vision dans les cas de d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rescence humide et ce malgr\u00e9 les nombreux essais de recherche. Il n\u2019existe aucune intervention permettant de faire r\u00e9gresser la d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rescence s\u00e8che. La prise d\u2019une combinaison de vitamines est recommand\u00e9e pour ralentir la progression de la
