The Institut de la rétine médicale (de Montréal) is a sub-specialty ophthalmology clinic located in downtown Montréal founded in November 2018. The Institute seeks to be an international provider of specialized medical retina care by fellowship-trained Ophthalmologists. Educational and research activities are conducted and encouraged within the Institute. Medical retina is a sub-specialty of ophthalmology which manages retinal eye disease by means of medical interventions (injections, laser, etc.).

Our Mission is to provide leading Medical Retina care.

The sub-specialty deals with the following highly prevalent conditions:

  • Age-related Macular Degeneration
  • Diabetic Eye Disease
  • Vascular Occlusions/Anomalies
  • Inflammatory disease of the Posterior Segment
  • Hereditary disease of the Posterior Segment

We are seeking to add new member to the Team to perform the following roles:

The Institute of Medical Retina’s growing practice is seeking to add a fellowship-trained retina specialist.

General ophthalmologists with experience and interest in managing retinal disease may also apply.

Founded in November 2018, the Institute is a site of excellence in clinical care, research and education in medical retina in the province of Quebec. Located in downtown Montreal, the Institute benefits from state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, nursing coverage, and multi-disciplinary affiliations with both public and private provincial, national and international healthcare providers.  

Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the province of Quebec.

Record health history from patient

Perform the following ophthalmic testing on patients :

Visual acuity and recording of intra-ocular pressure

Visual field testing, color vision testing, retina imaging

Ensure exam room is wiped down in the AM per cleaning procedure and instruments covered end of day if closing shift.

Ensure patient entering exam room with Dr has had all ophthalmic testing completed and drops administered.

Exam room has medication ready for Dr to inject and completes injection log to track pharmacy orders.

Assist the ophthalmologist in other tasks as required.

General medical supply inventory.

Obtaining informed consent for ophthalmic interventions – lasers, injections, etc and preparing patients for these interventions.

We are seeking to add new member to the Team to perform the following roles:

Greet patients upon arrival to their appointment.

Record medicare card and patient demographics.

Take payment and issue invoices when applicable.

Answer incoming patient phone calls and assign patient referrals.

Faxing.

Answering patient emails.

Assist Ophthalmologist with general tasks.

Ensure all necessary follow-up care has been arranged for the patient.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in French and English
  • Patient care oriented
  • Experience in prior healthcare setting is considered an asset
  • Interest in Ophthalmology and Clinical Research
  • Awareness of patient data confidentiality practices
  • Highly adaptive to Electronic Medical Record/paperless environment
